This position involves laboratory, technical, maintenance, and groundskeeping work in the operation of a biological wastewater treatment facility. Applicants must be able to perform a variety of tasks and be willing to work in a team environment. Must be able to obtain an “A” biological wastewater treatment license within the required time frame which will be dependent on current certification level.
Preferred requirements include a high school diploma with vocational/ technical training in the field of wastewater treatment operations, or any equivalent combination of education and training. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license (CDL preferred).

Patrols assigned beat or neighborhood and responds to emergency calls to protect persons or property from crimes, and other hazards. Public Safety Officers are expected to perform specialized firefighting work which may involve driving fire pumpers and ladder trucks and operating firefighting apparatus Engages directly in fire prevention and firefighting activities to protect and safeguard lives and property. Work involves an element of personal danger.

Enforce traffic laws, direct traffic, take charge of traffic accidents, assist motorists, pedestrians and the injured in accidents. Respond to emergency calls and make arrests as necessary. Prepare and submit reports regarding complaints pertaining to larceny, stolen property, shoplifting, assault and battery, robbery, etc. Investigate reports of suspicious people and vehicles as assigned. Serve arrest and bench warrants to the public as necessary. Testify in court regarding traffic and criminal cases.

The City of Union is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator – Water in the Utilities Department. This role involves operating various types of machinery to assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water infrastructure. The successful candidate will repair water & sewer mains, install/remove meters, unclog sewers, change water valves and hydrants. Perform routine maintenance and care of equipment and tools. Perform other related duties as required.
A high school diploma or GED required and two years of experience as a heavy equipment operator, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a commercial drivers license.

The City of Union currently has a vacancy for the position of Patrol Captain in the Public Safety Department. The Public Safety Patrol Captain administers and supervises the uniform patrol unit and assists with the effective operation and coordination of work of the various branches of the Public Safety Department. The Patrol Captain evaluates their assigned staff and oversees the employees’ work schedules, counsels’ employees by hearing their concerns and resolving any problems that they may encounter as well as disciplines employees as necessary. Plans and supervises the enforcement of traffic, safety, and crime prevention programs. Reviews paperwork completed by the Public Safety Officers for accuracy and compliance and ensures paperwork is completed in a timely manner. Keeps subordinates informed of any changes in laws, policies and procedures. Ensures necessary steps are taken to maintain high morale amongst members of the Public Safety Dept. The Patrol Captain assists in the enforcement of implementation of all City ordinances and state laws. This position reports to the Public Safety Director.
Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED with vocational or technical training in criminal justice, law enforcement or a related field; supplemented by seven years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement that includes lead or supervisory experiences or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
